Frequently Asked Questions

Why is TKP hosting this Empty Bowls event? Empty Bowls events are nation wide events benefiting organizations that provide relief to those experiencing hunger. 87% of TKP clients have an income of $30,000 or less while living with a critical or chronic illness, making it challenging to access and prepare healthy foods supportive of their health condition. This event supports building TKP a new facility to increase capacity and serve more teens and clients in need. More info on our new kitchen campaign HERE.

What happens at an Empty Bowls event? This event has a rolling start, and guests can arrive whenever they like. At the event, guests choose one one handmade bowl from the donated offerings. After washing the bowl, guests can choose from several restaurant prepared soups. Guests will be given four tasting tickets at the door. Each tasting ticket offers one 3 ounce serving of soup. Guests will also receive freshly baked bread to go with their soup. This event will also have local music, raffle items, and non alcoholic drinks for purchase. Additional tasting tickets may be purchased at the event.

What time is the event? The event starts at 11:00am and ends at 2pm. Guests can come whenever they would like during this time. Raffle winners will be notified and baskets delivered on the next business day.

Who makes the bowls for this event? Local ceramic students from local high schools as well as local artisans are providing the bowls for this event. Special Thank You to Soquel High School Ceramics Teacher Alison SooHoo for organizing the school donations from across Santa Cruz County!
